Subject: Music! Hi Tim, thank you for your work!
Today I was looking for some flamenco and I discovered your radio, the musical selection is great! Unfortunately on my computer the names of the songs don't appear, and I just listened to one flamenco song played by only guitar that was a-ma-zi-ng. It was 2:15 P.M, Italian hour. Maybe you can look in your list and say me the title?
Thank you for your music!!
Unfortunately I don't keep a log of what was played, but even if your audio software doesn't show the song you can always go to the web site www.flamencoradio.net and it always shows the last 10 songs played including the current track. Thanks for listening! --TIM

Subject: LIFE! Woke up sad and blue under clouded skies, missing so very many things in my life - old lovers, the olive grove in Spain, a sense of being alive. Found 'Tim' and felt magnetically drawn to another time and place - out came the coffee beans and, yes, the SUN (rare in England!) I now lean my head out of the window of my small town flat, and the music transports me - I am sitting under the grape vine outside the 'casita' having my morning coffee with Juan and putting the world to rights, whilst the eagles soar over the distant hills.
Thanks Tim for a wonderful station.
I feel safer now that I know I can tap into such wonderful music that brings me back to life.

Subject: Flamenco variety I really enjoy this station. I just love the variety of traditional flamenco styles you play, as well as the psuedo-flamenco / nuevo flamenco selections.
Unlike some of the previous comments, I do not hold such a narrow minded view of "pure/traditional flamenco or nothing". That mindset srikes me as somewhat elitist and arrogant. Look, I love traditional flamenco as well as any other, but flamencoesque styles also have musical value, and many enjoy that too. Music evolves and expands to incoporate other genres (even flamenco), and by doing so doesn't make it inferior to traditional flamenco, just different... it is all good in my opinion. Keep the variety coming!

Thanks for listening! Paco de Lucia and Pedro Iturralde made an album called Jazz Flamenco back in 1967 but it's out of print. If you listen long enough you'll hear it here, but other than that the only Jazz-Flamenco fusion I know of is some tracks from various CDs like Paco's Castro Marin, Gerardo Nunez, and maybe some Tomatito and Vicente Amigo. The enthusiasm caused in Cape Verde by the talent of Gabriela Mendes should in an immediate future impose this artist at the international level, like one of the very first voices of Cape Verde and in the world music.

Subject: Biscoito Fino Refined taste for music is yours Tim. We, listeners, keep imagining from where did you catch this cultural refinement: natural born, touristing born, playing guitar, etc. I guess on the end it does not matter. Wherever you got that music taste, everybody is taking advantage of it. Thanks for supplying fans of flamenco with a superb selection of good music. See you flying above Sevilla.
Wow, awesome. I find my music by being involved in the scene here in SoCal, by talking to people who know the influential masters and the current upcoming artists. I have a lot more stuff to add, so stay tuned for some great old and new flamenco! --TIM

Thanks for your suggestions; I used to live in Maastricht, NL and recently moved back to my native east bay. During the six years I was away, the flamenco scene has developed a lot. I discovered that Jason McGuire lives nearby along with a couple of other great flamenco guitarists, all right here in the east bay!
I also have a request: "Camaron Nuestro" a double CD live album. I have not noticed it on your play list. It is the most awesome recording of Camaron de la Isla I have ever heard. I was blown away when I first heard it.
Sounds like a winner, I'll see if I can pick it up on my next CD run. Thanks for listening! --TIM

Subject: New to channel I'm a 28 yr old American of Mexican descent and I enjoy re-discovering (is that a word?)music. I'm not a musician, just a music junkie. I'll get these kicks where I dive into music from different countries or eras for a couple of months. However with music from Spain I loosely got into it by way of my upbringing. As an adult I see that I seldom look for new artists or music, what I do is I revert to music from my childhood and study its origins and look for current artists that play traditional styles. I'm having fun with this channel. I just found it today. Great job!

Subject: Manitas de Plata Muchisimas gracias - what a great website! One person I didn't see listed is Manitas de Plata.
In the 1960s I used to travel all over the world giving concerts with other artists to benefit UNICEF. We'd play in wealthy countries to raise money for poor countries.
In Amsterdam, the great flamenco guitarist Manitas de Plata (a Basque Gipsy) was also on the bill. His singer was Jose Reyes, whose nephews backed everybody up and later became the Gipsy Kings. We had a lot of fun at rehearsals dancing and clapping and me singing fake flamenco in French in some theatre basement corridor. I've never been around more superb musicians or had more fun.
Play us some Manitas de Plata please. Buffy
